Programs Director
Overview:
As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Programs Director to join our team! If selected, you will report to the President, be a voice and face to our members, lead the Chamber’s programs and be a support for the team. This position requires high-level discretionary decision-making as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and volunteers and organize large-scale events and programs. Candidates must have excellent time management and be highly organized, detailed-oriented, and professional. The ideal candidate for this job is innovative, dynamic, a good problem solver and excellent in customer service and building relationships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the Education Committee by preparing agendas, minutes, guest speakers, sponsors, host locations, and facilitate education partnerships
- Plan and coordinate the Chamber’s Excellence in Education Banquet that recognizes teachers, service to education, business partners, volunteers, and scholarship recipients. Manage the event logistics, volunteers, marketing materials, scholarship process, and budget
- Manage and lead the Chamber’s Leadership Northland program by creating the session agendas, securing host locations, scheduling speakers, running presentations, and managing overall program logistics.
- Manage and lead the Chamber’s Youth Leadership program with approx. 30 high school juniors by creating the session agendas, securing host locations, scheduling speakers, running presentations, and managing overall program logistics
- Build relationships with Chamber members to obtain sponsorship and volunteer support for the Education Committee, Excellence in Education Banquet, Leadership Northland program, Youth Leadership program, and Leadership Committee
- Lead the Leadership Committee by preparing agendas, recording minutes, curating session evaluations, and implementing new ideas and suggestions for future sessions
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Chamber programs and Education Banquet, providing regular reports to the President and Board of Directors. Make data-driven recommendations for program improvements
- Schedule, host and execute both in-person, off-site and virtual committee meetings on Zoom software
- Provide support for the conception, monitoring, and adherence to the Chamber budget and other fiscal guidelines
- Manage filing, billing, event and vendor contracts, invoicing and marketing materials for Chamber programs and Education Banquet
- Attend and assist with the coordination and execution of all Chamber events
- Cross train and assist in all staff positions as necessary
- Other duties as needed or assigned by the President
Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), and general operating systems
- Proficient in Adobe Office Suite including InDesign & Photoshop, or similar design program
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
- Experience in event planning and execution
- Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Highly organized with managing events, programs, committees, volunteers and high school students
- A self-starter (proactive versus reactive in style) and strong professional interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once to completion
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment while working independently and as part of a team
- Preferred experience working in Quick Books
- Must use tact, discretion, and diplomacy with staff, members, board members and elected officials
- An active driver’s license, as this position does require travel to local places of business and the use of a personal vehicle may be required
- Expert in Northland (Clay and Platte counties) geography, municipalities, history and general information
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Set up and tear down at Chamber events, focusing on IT and audio/visual aspects but frequently assisting in other areas to ensure a successful event
- Frequent walking, standing, and sitting while working with desktop computers or other technology in the office, or at Chamber events
- Pushing and pulling of file cabinet drawers and occasional but minimal overhead lift
